|We have weathered our first major storm and didn’t have to use any of the emergency supplies. Before the storm hit I realized that if the electricity goes out neither our central heat or our fireplace would work. Both rely on an electric fan to distribute the heat – and will refuse to turn on without the fan being available.
The solution, I decided, was to have a stand-by propane heater. Coast hardware had just the thing – evidently I’m not the first to think of the issue. I picked up the heater and a 5 gallon jug for emergency water.
|Just for fun I found my shortwave receiver and put it on the shelf along with the flashlights. Oh well, they are all ready for the next storm.|
