February 2008

February marked our relocation to our friend Anita Dayton's KISS Horse Center. We will enjoy the wide open spaces and Anita's help in getting the most out of our horses.  We asked David Lichman to analize Tango's gait and he told us that Tango trots in a style called the Fox Trot.  The Fox trot is more comfortable than a normal trot.  Below are a couple of pictures of the new facility.

Tango by trailer

Tango is really just learning what is expected, but he greets us at the gate ready for whatever adventure we have in store for him.

Early Monday (2/11/08) morning Linda found an exciting new prospect advertised on the internet.  He was in Bakersfield, so we loaded up and went for a visit.

The horse, named Bowty Zanzibar, is a three four year old Azteca/paint gelding.  He is JUST what Linda has been looking for!  Thursday (2/14/08) we drove the truck and trailer down and had a vet check him over (OK on all counts).  Friday morning we loaded him up and drove home. After five hours in the trailer he stepped off and immediately recognized Linda as his NEW person.

Zanzibar settled right in to his new (24' x 24') stall in the open air barn. He is next door to Tango and they were immediately best buddies. The first night they removed one of the panels separating their stalls and moved in together.

MOVIES:

Here are a few snapshots of Linda and Zany   AND   a self portrait of the photographer.

After riding Sunday morning (2/17/2008) Dave went to the Cosumnes Nature Preserve visiter center where he volunteers one afternoon each month.  It was a beautiful day and there were hundreds of visitors.

As we get to know our new horses we can't help but remember horses we have owned. A few pictures of the previous horses are in our scrapbook.
