June 2010

June (late).  We got a new fence - beautiful redwood - on both sides of the house.

June 15 & 16 We decided to take a road trip in the sports car.  The video is on Youtube HERE and a slideshow of pictures is HERE.  We drive west on highway 80, then onto highway 1 and up Mount Tamalpais.  The road was twisty and a lot of fun in the little red Mazda MX5 - it was a great day to have the top down.  Linda hung the camera out the window and shot video of a lot of the trip.  After hiking around the mountain we headed down to Muir Woods.  The morning crowd was just leaving so we were able to find a parking space fairly close.  The park is beautiful and amazingly peaceful.  There were hundreds of people speaking more different languages than we could count.  The park is certainly well loved!  As we walked further and further into the park there were fewer and fewer people - until we almost had the place to ourselves.  Below are a few of my favorite pictures - for the rest go to the slide show HERE.

After Muir Woods we drive up Highway 1 to Bodega Bay.  The drive up the coast was just perfect for the little car and we left the top down while we zipped around the curves.  In Bodega Bay we spent the night at the Bodega Bay Lodge (expensive but with a nice view).  We drive up to Bodega Head and the wind nearly blew us out to sea.  The next morning we decided to drive to Occidental for breakfast - and we discovered a new favorite resturant - Howards.

June 8, 2010; For my weekly (Tuesday) visit to Arbuckle Mom was scheduled to play bridge at her bridge club - so Dad and I drove to visit the horses.  Dad was more engaged than I have seen him in a LONG time.  He has a VERY gentle way with horses and they liked him right away (the treats may have helped a little).  We took a drive around the property and along the Mokelumne River levees so dad could see where we spend a lot of our time.

June 7, 2010; we took a drive up to the top of Mount Diablo.  The State Park is very extensive and the view from the top was spectacular.  Linda shot a short video of the first part of the drive up the mountain -

It was a very nice road trip and a great day.

I joined a photo club and their first assignment was to take a photo featuring FEET.  This was my entry.  I had to get off Tango and take off my boot - then tie it in the stirrup in order to take the picture.

June 5, 2010 - We played with our horses during the "First Saturday" BBQ at the ranch. In the first picture Tango models a new bridle Linda just finished. It is the best so far. In the last picture Zany gets a reward for getting up on the pedestal.
