Friday
March 26 we took a road trip to look at the redbud along highway 16
(the road in Capay valley. The timing was perfect as the buds
were just peaking out from their winter's rest. We stopped for
lunch at the Road Trip cafe in Capay and were reminded why we should
wait for the Burger Barn in Esparto. The food was good and the
wait staff was friendly - but the kitchen was VERY slow (45 minutes to
cook a hamburger) There were only three tables with people and
every one (kind of) complained about the slow kitchen.
As
it happens each
year (for as long as I can remember) March 21st is my birthday.
This year I enjoyed supper in Arbuckle with mom, dad and Janine.
Just a quiet family dinner. Linda cooked roast beef, mashed
potatoes and some delicious greens but couldn't come because she wasn't
feeling well (turns out she was getting a cold).
It was great 65th birthday! |

March
11th marked the end of our Hawaii saga. The hospital released mom
to join us at the condo but even though her spirits were high she still
couldn't eat. After a useless meeting with her doctor we decided
the best chance for recovery was to escape the island as soon as
possible. We bought our tickets and tried to make the best of our
last days in Hawaii by going to the beach and lazing on the
patio. Mornings were fun as we all checked our computers for the
news of the day.
We arrived in California Thursday evening and mom went to her own
doctor Friday. The difference was amazing. Her doctor
listened! He took her off all the meds the Hawaii doctor
insisted she take (and were causing her so much discomfort).
Within
a day mom was feeling much better and eatting like she should.
