Some gratuitous driving, up to highway 49 and back.
May 29, 2010 - Every Memorial day weekend Sacramento is host to an invitational jazz festival. Saturday evening Linda and I joined the festivities for a beautiful warm and balmy night in Old Sacramento. We started by walking among the bands and watching the people enjoy the early evening. For supper we went to Joes Crab Shack - a very busy and "hopping" place. We had crab cakes "shooters" (mini burgers) and coconut shrimp - YUMM!!! After supper we sat at the Candy Factory - outside wall - and listened for a while; then we strolled along the warf to watch the sunset glow over the river.
We walked across the Tower Bridge then, back at the car, took the top down and cruised "J" street before heading home. The evening lights were beautiful and it was plenty warm (even at 10 PM with the top down). During our short trip through the heart of Sacramento we saw three cars run red lights (pretty close in front of us) and on the freeway home we saw an almost crash; it reminded us why we don't go out at night too much any more.
May 22, 2010 Linda and I joined some friends to play with our horses. I had built a pedestal that the horses can stand on (like in the circus) and Linda was successful in getting her horse Zany to step up the first time. Tango is willing to put one foot up - and will learn to put both up later.
May 11, 2010 - Dad and I took off for a road trip while mom went to her bridge club. We drove to Williams for a Whopper Jr. then on to Colusa where we turned right just after we crossed the Sacramento river and took the river road. The levee road wound along the top of the levee and we were both pleased to find a nice country road with almost no traffic. We put the top down and just cruised along. We stopped for a picture of the Sutter buttes and had a fisherman take a snapshot along the river - then we went on to the little chapel before heading home.
