Saturday - Halloween. We dressed up the horses and had a party at the ranch. Linda won the prize for best costume. I was the photographer so Tango didn't get to dress up. A great time was had by all. Additional pictures and a slide show are at http://www.pbase.com/dave_7hi/spook2010.
Thursday the 28th; Linda and I joined our friends Laurie and Charmaine (from the ranch) to watch Secretariat (the movie). The movie was very well done and we all enjoyed lots of popcorn. Afterwards we had pizza and beer at BJs.
Saturday the 23rd; Linda and friends sponsored a "de-spook" clinic at the horse ranch. We added some scary objects and introduced the horses to them. Our horses were the champians - they had pretty much seen everything already. I rode around the arena flying a kite - which we thought would spook all the horses but they all did fine. Here is a short movie of the kite ride.
Tuesday the 19th; Mom and Janine were in Georga visiting with Willow so Dad and I took a drive through Woodland and up Cache Creek through the Capay valley. We stopped at the Rumsey bridge where the road takes off cross country for Arbuckle and posed for pictures. The creek is running high for this time of year.
Saturday the 16th Linda and I went to Arbuckle for my highschool 47th year reunion (the reunion was in the neighboring town of Williams). It was great to see most of the people I palled around with way back then, especially since I haven't kept in touch. For many of us it was also Kindergarden reunion. I am pictured below with Mike Scheimer and Linda is pictured with Mary Young and Betty Manning. Snooks Bouska was there as well as Denny Johnson (Snooks has a web site: The Crazy Czech Pilot - he still flys.) We had a map of the world and people put pins into places we have been.
Tuesday the 12th we celebrated mom's birthday by inviting mom and dad to Sacramento to see the song and dance production of "In The Mood". Although they warned us not to take pictures I did manage to sneak a short video. We sang along with the memorable songs and later had supper at Chevys on the river.
Wednesday the sixth was another night for a top down cruise to the horses. We were the only ones there so we turned on the lights and played with the horses. At one point Linda got the camera and shot a short movie. On the 9th I picked up a cardboard character at the Mazda dealer so I could take a picture and enter it in their contest. I used the computer to make LOTS of little green men. They liked it so much it went right to the dealer's web site on their front page.
October 2010 brought warm Fall nights so we frequently hopped into Ladybug (The red sportscar) and enjoyed the night sky with the top down. During the day our favorite stop is the horse ranch and nights are no different. On the first we found a truck load of pumpkins ready for the Fall decorations. At home the house looked nice and spooky in the moon light. The fifth was a Tuesday so I went to Arbuckle to help install Mom and Dad's new TV. When I got back home Linda announced that our friend Charmaine had given us her tickets to the Kings game (a preseason against the Phoenix Suns). It was a great game and we WON!
